Some Taal eruption victims who fled their homes have reported of looting incidents in Batangas towns, GMA News' Chino Gaston reported Wednesday on Unang Balita.

During nighttime, no authorities were left watching over the town of Laurel and barangay Bayuga in the municipality of Agoncillo, where incidents of theft were reported, including the one involving a television set, the report said.

Affected residents are being prohibited from returning to their homes amid threats from restive Taal Volcano.

But some dared to go back to their houses, slipping past checkpoints either by passing through very early in the morning, or by crossing the lake with their boats.

Some fishermen said they are safe in evacuation centers, but they claimed they will die of hunger if they continue to stay there. They said no fish will be available if they can't fish or tend their fish cages in the Taal Lake. —Joviland Rita/LBG, GMA News
