High school student in Nueva Ecija injured after beating over jealousy

A high schooler in Nueva Ecija suffered abrasions and hematoma after she was mauled by a schoolmate over jealousy.

CCTV footage taken last January from a school in Cabanatuan City showed how the victim, a graduating student, was suddenly attacked by another female schoolmate.

Some students tried to stop the perpetrator but she continued hitting the victim.

A medico legal report found that the victim sustained abrasions on her nape, left cheek, and forehead, as well as a hematoma on her back due to mauling.

“Hindi ako nakakatulog sa gabi dahil do’n. Hanggang ngayon, hindi pa rin ako makapaniwala na nangyari sa’kin yo’n. Dati, napapanood ko lang sa social media ‘yung gano’n, ngayon sa akin na nangyari,” the victim said.

The victim added that she will file charges against the abuser.

The parents of the suspect, who declined being interviewed in front of the camera, said their daughter expressed remorse over her actions. They also paid the medical bills of the victim.

The two parties are still in a dialogue over the incident.

The incident occurred outside school premises, but officials assured they do not tolerate this kind of case.
