The enhanced community quarantine over Iligan City, Lanao del Norte has been extended to April 30 “to protect the gains” achieved by the city against the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Mayor Celso Regencia signed Executive Order No. 37 on Thursday extending the quarantine that started on March 20 from April 10 to the end of the month.

The mayor also imposed a 7 p.m. to  5 a.m. curfew for all residents.

The order also closes all private establishments, except those that provide essential services such as supermarkets, food delivery services, and banks.

The sale and consumption of liquors likewise remain prohibited under an earlier passed ordinance.

“Residents of Iligan City are strongly mandated to stay at home unless warranted by reasons which must be for legitimate and absolutely necessary purposes only,” the order read.

Only one person in the entire province of Lanao del Norte has contracted COVID-19, according to the provincial government as of Tuesday.

Meanwhile, 24 people are being monitored for possible infection and three are still awaiting the results of their COVID-19. —Julia Mari Ornedo/LDF, GMA News
