The son of Department of Tourism secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat has been stranded in Palawan amid the enhanced community quarantine.

According to JP Soriano's report for "24 Oras," a total of 1,628 domestic travelers have been stranded in the country as of Tuesday.

One of them is Puyat's son Vito, who is working in Palawan.

"Hindi ko siya maalis kasi may kanya-kanyang lockdown ang mga LGU. So nag-usap na lang kami ng anak namin na dun na muna siya sa Palawan," the secretary said.

She said local governments have different ordinances regarding the enforcement of the quarantine to curb the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Some allow the entry of returning domestic travelers, while some do not.

Puyat said the DOT has helped stranded foreign tourists to leave the country, but they will soon organize a similar effort for domestic travelers—MGP, GMA News
