Naga to propose ECQ extension with the Office of the President, IATF

The local government of Naga City called on the Office of the President and the Inter-Agency Task Force to extend the enhanced community quarantine in the city due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) threat.

According to a Sunday “24 Oras News Alert,” Naga Mayor Nelson Legacion made the recommendation after President Rodrigo Duterte’s ordered the city to transition from ECQ to a general community quarantine starting May 1.

Legacion said the transition may result in the easy entry and exit of people along their borders.

With this, he recommended extending the ECQ in Naga until May 15.

Legacion also compared Naga to Catanduanes, which was recommended to continue with the ECQ until may 15 despite having fewer cases of COVID-19. — Ma. Angelica Garcia/DVM, GMA News
