Relatives of Pampanga barangay officials return cash aid

Relatives of barangay officials in Arayat, Pampanga returned their social amelioration program subsidy after receiving complaints from several residents.

According to a report on 24 Oras News Alert on Monday, residents complained about the wife of a barangay captain and other relatives of barangay officials receiving cash aid despite not being beneficiaries.

However, one of the relatives of the barangay official clarified she did not in any attempt to influence the distribution of financial assistance.

The local government said the money would be returned to the municipal treasurer’s office.

Meanwhile, the names of the relatives in the list of beneficiaries would be replaced with those of qualified residents.
