Radio reporter shot dead in Dumaguete City


A radio reporter was shot dead by in Barangay Daro, Dumaguete City in the province of Negros Oriental on Tuesday evening.

According to the initial police report, 48-year-old Cornelio Pepino using the alias "Rex Cornelio, was traveling onboard his motorcycle with his wife, Colen, when he was shot at several times by two still unidentified motorcycle-riding male suspects at around 8:30 p.m. in Villa Amada along North Road.

The responding police officers brought the victim to the Silliman University Medical Center but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician, Dr.Michael Pacurza.

Pepino, a resident of Barangay Boloc-Boloc in the adjacent town of Sibulan, was a reporter/announcer for DYMD Energy FM.

The police are conducting an investigation into the incident. -- BAP, GMA News
