Albay local electrocuted to death while fixing neighbor's roof
A Daraga, Albay local died after he was electrocuted while fixing a neighbor's roof as Typhoon Ambo lashed the southeastern section of Luzon.
In a 24 Oras report by Lei Alviz on Friday, the victim was identified as 24-years-old Jonel Banzagales, who accidentally grabbed on to a secondary wire of the Albay Power Electric Corporation while working on the roof.
Ambo's winds also lashed Ligao City, Albay, with some residents placing sandbags on their roofs to prevent them from being blown away.
Ligao also saw some flooding, but the local government had anticipated this and evacuated thousands of residents.
The municipality of Oas, Albay meanwhile experienced chest-deep floods.
"Hindi namin inasahan na 'yung tubig na ganito kataas," a male resident said.
"Labas at loob ng bahay ko bahang-baha, mga gamit puro nasira," a female resident added.
Two children, however, were seen cleaning their bicycle in the middle of the flood, oblivious to the possible illnesses they could catch from the rising waters.
More than 1,500 families were also evacuated in Virac, Catanduanes.
Residents, however, were unable to wear face masks, and social distancing was not observed at the evacuation center.
