PUVs still barred from operating in Lapu-Lapu City despite GCQ

Even though Lapu-Lapu City in Cebu is already under general community quarantine, public utility vehicles there are still barred from operating, according to an Unang Balita report on Tuesday.

Operators of PUVs are still waiting for the special permit that will be issued by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), the report said.

The special permit will allow PUVs to resume their operations.

Because of this, Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Junard Chan appealed to the LTFRB to allow PUVs to resume their operations for the benefit of residents who will be going back to their work.

Although buses have been deployed, the city government believes the number is not enough to transport the workers. --KBK, GMA News
