The local government of Antipolo City, Rizal on Saturday said it will lift the liquor ban in the city starting June 1.

Under the directive, selling of liquor will be allowed.

However, drinking in public will not be allowed.

In a Facebook account under her name and her husband, former Antipolo City Mayor Jun Ynares, Mayor Andrea Ynares posted that only those with quarantine passes will be allowed to buy liquor.

In accordance with guidelines set by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases for areas under general community quarantine (GCQ), gatherings will be limited to 10 people, Ynares said.

Anyone caught violating the guidelines will be apprehended, she added.

Ynares said some Antipolo residents have been buying liquor in other places or even in the black market at higher prices.

She added that some businesses have been affected due to the liquor ban.

"Dahil po sa mga na banggit, madami man po ang hindi sang-ayon, lifted na po ang liquor ban sa Antipolo," she said.
