Heavy rains, flood destroy 15 houses in Koronadal City
Heavy rains in previous days caused destructive floods in various parts of the country.
According to Jun Veneracion's report in GMA News' 24 Oras on Friday, one barangay in Koronadal City, South Cotabato has been placed under the state of calamity for damages caused in properties.
Fifteen houses in Barangay San Isidro were totally destroyed by flood. A total of 140 families had to evacuate, according to local authorities.
Residents rummaged through mud to salvage what was left of their properties after the flood subsided.
Meanwhile, boats became the temporary mode of transportation of residents in Talacogon, Agusan del Sur as some parts of their town remain submerged in flood for four days now.
Their crops were also damaged by the flood.
In Aurora province of Luzon, floods also caused inconveniences.
Residents of Dilasag town found mobility challenging because of flooded thoroughfares. The local government is monitoring the status of affected roads.
The southwest monsoon or Habagat was expected to bring rains in various parts of the country on Friday, according to PAGASA.
According to GMA resident meteorologist Mang Tani Cruz, a low-pressure area has been spotted 875 kilometers east of Tuguegarao City in Cagayan. It is being monitored as it may intensify in the coming days. —Dona Magsino/LDF, GMA News
