WestMinCom: 3 soldiers hurt in Maguindanao blast
Three soldiers were wounded after an anti-personnel mine (APM) exploded in Ampatuan, Maguindanao on Thursday morning, the Armed Forces Western Mindanao Command (WestMinCom) said.
The military said troops from the Army's 57th Infantry Battalion were conducting combat clearing operations in Barangay Salman when the explosion happened.
“Inflicting harm to our troops is the desperate device of the weakened terrorist groups to attract attention and harbor support,” WestMinCom chief Lieutenant General Corleto Vinluan said.
“Rest assured that we will heighten our security operations and stay on guard against the emerging threats in our area of operation,” he added.
Medical personnel immediately responded to the area and applied first aid to the wounded troops.
They were brought to Camp Siongco Station Hospital for proper medication. — Anna Felicia Bajo/RSJ, GMA News
