17 families evacuated in Tagbilaran City, Bohol after heavy rains


TAGBILARAN CITY – Rains on Sunday night caused heavy flooding in several areas in this city, prompting disaster management teams to evacuate individuals.

Gerard Lavadia, Tagbilaran City disaster risk reduction management officer, said the emergency responders have evacuated at least 17 families.

The downpour caused flooding in many areas in the city with water levels reaching knee to waist deep, affecting  families.

Lavadia said 10 households in Purok 8 in Barangay Tiptip,  five households in Penaflor Street in Barangay Booy, one household Capitol Valley in Barangay Dao and one household in an area near Toyota in Barangay Taloto were transferred to safe areas.

On Monday morning, residents were allowed to go back.

Lavadia said the same areas were flooded in 2018 due to Typhoon Basyang.

Several properties were affected and Lavadia's office is still assessing the extent of damage. -- BAP, GMA News
