4 dead in Albay due to Typhoon Rolly, says governor

Typhoon Rolly fatalities in Albay province rose to four, Governor Al Francis Bichara said Sunday.

"Apat na. Sa ngayon, apat 'yung accounted for. 'Yung tatlo related sa ilog, nagoverflow, nawasak 'yung dike at 'yun 'yung mga namatay," Bichara told Dobol B sa News TV.

"'Yung isa 'yung nadaganan ng malaking punong-kahoy," Bichara added.

Bichara said one of the victims is a five-year-old kid.

"'Yung batang 'yun malamang inanod 'yun... siguro isang pamilya habang ano nabitawan siguro, inanod 'yung isang bata. 'Yung isa naman, inanod ng lahar, at sa Polangui  mayroon ding inanod sa ilog," the governor said.

Earlier, the Office of Civil Defense V director Claudio Yucot confirmed one fatality in Daraga.

Bichara said clearing operations are ongoing in some areas, including the road going to Tiwi, where Rolly made its first landfall.

Inspections and assessment for damages is ongoing in the affected areas, Bichara added.

At present, Albay is placed under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 4. —LBG, GMA Nwes
