Cagayan fishers defy Siony’s huge waves to catch fish
Several fishermen in Santa Ana, Cagayan did not let the huge waves caused by severe tropical storm Siony stop them from fishing.
According to Vonne Aquino’s report on “24 Oras,” the small boats almost turned over due to the strong tide.
Though PAGASA had raised gale warnings for small seacrafts, the fishermen pushed through with sea voyage to find food for their families.
Kasi kapag hindi sila pilitin pumalaot, eh wala naman silang makain,” Dante Villanueva, a relative of a fisherman, said.
However, Santa Ana Mayor Nelson Robinion assured that the operatives of the Philippine Coast Guard watched over the fishermen.
Hindi ‘yung sinabing stop, stop,” Robinion said.
