Bulacan highway turns into river after Ulysses downpour

The national highway in Maasim in San Ildefonso, Bulacan looked like a flowing river as floodwaters raged due to the heavy rains brought by Typhoon Ulysses overnight.

According to Bam Alegre’s report on “24 Oras” on Thursday, the road became impassable to all types of vehicles due to the deep flood and fallen electrical posts.

Residents near the area were immediately rescued by local authorities as Ulysses continued its onslaught.

San Ildefonso Mayor Carla Tan said the flood waters reached the roofs of some houses.

“Medyo marami ‘yong affected barangays namin ngayon na lumubog. May mga lagpas tao so talagang naka-monitor kami kagabi pa. Marami rin ‘yong bumagsak na poste and puno kaya walang electricity, wala ring kaming tubig ngayon,” Tan said.
