The victims of flooding in Cagayan province did not know how they would recover from the impact of the calamity after their crops and stored harvest were destroyed.

According to a report by Jessica Soho on Dobol B sa News TV on Sunday, residents in areas where the flooding had subsided started to clean up. However, some houses were still flooded.

Some farmers managed to harvest before the calamity hit the province. Unfortunately, the harvest in storage including their food supply was also damaged by the floods.

Due to this, most of the affected residents are looking for food.

According to Environment Secretary Roy Cimatu, the heavy rainfall amid the onslaught of Typhoon Ulysses mainly caused the flooding and not due to environmental problems involving mining.

Aside from this, the flood victims are also looking for potable water after their source of clean water like wells were also destroyed by the floods

Vice President Leni Robredo arrived in Cagayan on Sunday to lead a relief operation in affected areas. She designated staff that would coordinate efforts to bring relief to the victims.

President Rodrigo Duterte and other government officials also went to the flood-hit province where they discussed the situation and the possible interventions that would help the local government and residents. — DVM, GMA News
