Three people died while five others were hospitalized in Albay after they suffered carbon monoxide poisoning while using a generator set amid the blackouts caused by recent typhoons.

According to a “24 Oras Weekend” report on Sunday, the Department of Health (DOH) in Bicol said the victims were exposed to carbon monoxide due to their incorrect usage of a generator set.

The DOH advised the public not to use a generator set inside enclosed spaces to avoid poisoning.

Some of the symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning are headaches, dizziness, difficulty breathing, and nausea while using a generator set.

Those experiencing symptoms were advised to immediately seek medical assistance. —Julia Mari Ornedo/JST, GMA News
