P840,000 worth of suspected marijuana seized in La Trinidad-Baguio checkpoint


Authorities seized P840,000 worth of suspected marijuana in a checkpoint between Baguio City and La Trinidad on Sunday night.

Information from the Baguio City Police Office on Monday stated that three men were also arrested. They were identified as Manuel Sanchez Balbuena II, 22; Kasmir Vince Del Mundo Gile, 28; and Keihl Gio Paraan Baniqued, 22.

Police said they received information regarding a vehicle, a black Fortuner with plate number ZHX 404, supposedly carrying marijuana from La Trinidad.

Upon reaching the checkpoint, the vehicle was flagged down but the driver ignored the authorities and sped off.

Police was able to catch up and stop the vehicle. They then asked those on board to roll down their windows. It was at this point that authorities saw four pieces of tubes covered with green wrappers, later found out to be suspected marijuana.

A bag, containing suspected marijuana, was also discovered inside the vehicle.

Aside from the marijuana, also seized were identification cards of the suspects, a black cellphone and two backpacks.
