Not all hospital employees at the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City and the Southern Philippines Medical Center in Davao City are willing to get vaccinated against COVID-19.

According to Sandra Aguinaldo’s report on “24 Oras” on Wednesday, of the 2,987 employees of the VSMMC, only 2,480 wanted to get vaccinated versus the respiratory illness.

Meanwhile, of the 5,400 employees of the SPMC, only 3,200 are willing to be inoculated.

A simulation exercise was held on Tuesday in preparation for the arrival of COVID-19 vaccines this month.

Among those who participated in the simulation were the cities of Cebu and Davao.

Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said the simulation was done to avoid vaccine wastage.

The hospitals that will receive the first batch of vaccines are spread out across Metro Manila, Cebu and Davao.

The country will receive 117,000 doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, enough for 58,500 health workers.

Duque said excess doses will be given to health workers in the military and police. -MDM, GMA News
