A murder suspect was killed when he allegedly resisted arrest during a joint military and police operation in Alamada, Cotabato on Saturday, the Armed Forces Western Mindanao Command said.

In a statement issued Sunday, Wesmincom identified the suspect as Bayan Guila Dumila or “Boy Army,” who had a warrant of arrest for three counts of murder.

Wesmincom commander Lieutenant General Corleto Vinluan Jr. said combined elements of the 34th Infantry Battalion and Banilisan Police conducted the operation at Sitio Kabugan in Barangay Guiling.

Wesmincom claimed that Dumila opened fire when government forces were approaching his location, prompting the operating troops to retaliate.

Among the recovered items from operation were two M14 rifles, four magazines, and 80 rounds of 7.62mm ball, which have been placed under the custody of the 34 Infantry Battalion for documentation.

Brigadier General Roberto Capulong, commander of the 602nd Infantry Brigade, commended the troops for its operation.

Joint Task Force Central Commander Major General Juvymax Uy vowed continued support for other law enforcement agencies during operations in central and southern Mindanao.

Vinluan reassured the public that the military forces will keep on protecting the communities and ending terrorism as well as lawlessness in the region. — Joviland Rita/RSJ, GMA News
