Cop injured in Occidental Mindoro clash with alleged communist gunmen dies


A cop who was injured following an encounter on Friday with an undetermined number of alleged communist gunmen in Magsaysay, Occidental Mindoro, has died.

According to a News TV Live report on Saturday, Police Staff Sergeant Nolito Develos, who was one of those injured after the Occidental Mindoro Provincial Mobile Force Company clashed with the alleged terrorist group in Sitio Banban in Barangay San Nicolas, passed away.

An earlier report identified the fatalities as Police Executive Master Sergeant Jonathan Alvarez and Police Corporal Stan Gongora.

Meanwhile, Police Corporal Kim Jason Dimalaluan; Police Staff Sergeants Dexter Sagun, Edwin Vergera, Michael Sualog, Michael Enero, and Patrolmen Armando Pulido and Danny Soriano were injured.

Police Corporal Stan Gongora Nicolas Estocapio Jr. was missing.

In an update, the PNP reported that  Patrolmen Armando Pullido, Jayrald Insigne, Darwin Equilla, and Bayani Salgado Jr. were discharged from the hospital with minor injuries.

The police also identified the suspects as gunmen belonging to the Kilusang Larangang Gerilya Mark Anthony Velasco (KLG MAV).
