2 men caught on video in Bulacan beating up a dog to death

Two men were caught on video running after and beating up a dog to death in Malolos, Bulacan, according to a report on "24 Oras" on Wednesday.

At a hearing in the barangay hall the men, who were identified as Christopher Enriquez and Julius Mendoza, said they were angry because the dog killed five of their chickens.

Nicka Arejola, the owner of the Siberian Husky named "Evelyn," said she will file a complaint against both suspects.

"Halos ibinigay na lang niya 'yong sarili niya doon sa mga pumalo sa kaniya para matigil na lang 'yong paghabol sa kaniya," Arejola said.

(It was as if (the dog) gave herself up to those hitting her just to stop the men from chasing her.)

Arejola related that her dog went missing last week and immediately reported it to the barangay.

Afterwards, she was informed that her dog was already dead.

"Kinaladkad po nila 'yong aso namin hanggang sa hindi na namin nakita," Arejola said.

(They dragged away our dog until we could not find her anymore.)

Enriquez and Mendoza admitted that they beat the dog for killing some of their chickens.

"Sa'min kasi dala ng bugso ng damdamin namin kaya nagawa namin 'yon eh. Nadala kami sa galit namin," Enriquez said.

Enriquez later apologized to Arejola for the incident.

Meanwhile, Arejola said she will still file a case against the two men.

"Hindi po namin ito papa-settle. Hindi po namin ito papalampasin talaga. Gusto po naming mabigyan ng hustisya 'yong aso namin to the full extent of the law," she said.

The two suspects may face imprisonment from six months to 2 years under the Animal Welfare Act. -- BAP, GMA News
