Pampanga, Cavite, Bulacan tighten measures as COVID-19 cases rise
Some provinces in Luzon began adopting stricter measures under general community quarantine with heightened restrictions.
In Malolos, Bulacan, the line of vehicles became longer as authorities inspected motorists' documents at checkpoints, according to a report by Bam Alegre on GMA News' Unang Balita on Monday.
In Dasmariñas City, Cavite, two areas were placed under lockdown due to the number of active COVID-19 cases.
Mabuhay City and Phase 2 Extension of Barangay Paliparan 3 were cordoned off and personnel of the Bureau of Fire Protection and the Philippine National Police manned the entrances and exits.
A total of 93 active cases were reported in these areas. Contact tracing is ongoing.
Meanwhile in Pampanga, the province adopted stricter measures to prevent the transmission of the Delta variant of the coronavirus.
From August 2 to 15, non-residents entering Pampanga need to present a negative RT-PCR or antigen test result.
Borders at barangays will also be strictly monitored.
Parties and gatherings are not allowed, and minors and senior citizens are not allowed to go out of their homes as well.
Curfew was set at 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. the next day.
A liquor ban was also imposed, and only 30% capacity will be allowed for indoor dining at restaurants.
The Philippines' COVID-19 cases reached 1,597,689 on Sunday after 8,735 new infections were reported.
Of this number, 63,646 are active, 1,506,027 recovered, and 28,016 died. —KG, GMA News
