The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) has reserved P50 million to buy additional oxygen tanks in preparation for a possible COVID-19 surge, its top official said Tuesday.

At the Laging Handa public briefing, BARMM Chief Minister Ahod Ebrahim said the funding of the Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) will improve the supply of oxygen tanks in the region.

“We allocated sa BTA another P50 million para mag-procure ng mga oxygen, para mag-reinforce ng oxygen supply para i-prepare po namin sa possible COVID-19 surge,” he said.

However, Ebrahim said that the BARMM is still at low risk for COVID-19 compared to other regions in Mindanao.

BARMM has recorded a total of 10,410 COVID-19 cases. At least 9,350 of them have already recovered, while 666 are still active cases.

At least 390 have already died due to the disease, according to Ebrahim. — BM, GMA News
