The Province of Davao Oriental will be placed under the strictest enhanced community quarantine classification starting Wednesday, September 8 until Tuesday, September 21.

According to the provincial government, local chief executives unanimously agreed with the quarantine classification amid the "alarming" surge of COVID-19 cases in the province.

Under the ECQ, curfew hours will be from 8 p.m to 5 a.m. while wakes will be limited to three days only.

Likewise, the provincial government will implement a 24-hour liquor ban, strict border control to deter non-essential travels, and strict establishment monitoring.

“The Provincial Task Force on COVID-19 underscores and reminds the public that this time there will be strict enforcement of the ECQ guidelines,” it said.

According to PTF on COVID-19 Action Officer Dr. Reden Bersaldo, the ECQ will allow the health sector to recover and concentrate on the treatment of active cases.

At present, Davao Oriental has recorded a total of 5,583 cases, of which 1,227 are active and 159 have succumbed to the illness.

Meanwhile, the country has logged a total of 2,040,568 confirmed cases. —LBG, GMA News
