P6 million worth of marijuana seized, 3 suspects arrested at Benguet checkpoint
The Philippine National Police on Friday said P6 million worth of marijuana was seized from a vehicle flagged down at a checkpoint in Kapangan, Benguet on October 3.
In a statement, the PNP said that the Benguet Provincial Police Office nabbed three drug suspects, identified as Marry Ann Del Rosario, Simiano Patingan, and Jun Colera.
Personnel from the Kapangan Municipal Police Station flagged down the suspects' Mitsubishi Montero in Barangay Lomon and discovered suspected marijuana inside the vehicle.
Colera allegedly had a firearm tucked in his waist, the PNP added.
Aside from marijuana, authorities also confiscated a caliber .45 pistol with one magazine containing seven live rounds and the vehicle.
The suspects will be charged for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, the PNP said.
Colera will also face a complaint for violating the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
PNP chief Police General Guillermo Eleazar lauded the police officers for the accomplishment.
“We will conduct further investigation into this to determine the scope of the operation of the suspects and to identify their supplier of marijuana,” he said.
“Isa rin sa ating aalamin ay ang network of distribution ng grupong ito,” he added.
