Local tourists from five areas in the Visayas who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 will no longer need to present a negative swab test result upon entry to Boracay Island, a health official said Tuesday.

At the Laging Handa public briefing, Dr. Cornelio Cuacho of Aklan Provincial Health Office said tourists from Aklan, Capiz, Antique, Iloilo and Guimaras only have to present a certification from VaxCertPH.

“'Yung mga local tourists po, puwede na po sila pumunta dito kung sila ay fully vaccinated at mayroon po silang certification ng VaxCertPH,” he said.

(For local tourists, they may visit here if they are already fully vaccinated as long as they have a certification of VaxCertPH)

For visitors from other areas such as the National Capital Region, Cuachon said they still have to present a negative swab test result.

Cuachon said Boracay Island may further ease its travel restrictions when 70% of its population are already vaccinated.

As of Tuesday, around 91% of tourism workers in the island are already fully vaccinated, Cuachon said. As for residents, 62% have already been vaccinated.

Cuachon said Aklan has 25 active cases, a -49% two-week growth rate, and a 47% healthcare utilization rate. —KBK, GMA News
