Prices of fireworks double in Bocaue ahead of New Year's Eve

The prices of fireworks in Bocaue have increased twice over as more Filipinos flocked to its stores for the annual New Year's Eve revelry even amid the ongoing pandemic.

According to John Consulta's "24 Oras" report, sellers at the fireworks capital of the Philippines said customers were still buying pyrotechnics and firecrackers even with the higher prices.

Many Filipinos believe fireworks and firecrackers drive away evil in the coming the year.

The Department of Health already urged the public to find alternatives to welcome 2022.

Authorities also urged local government units to hold fireworks displays instead. —Consuelo Marquez/NB, GMA News
