Cop shoots birthday celebrant after restroom spat in Laguna

A man, who was celebrating his birthday, was shot dead by a policeman after a heated argument in the restroom of an establishment in Cabuyao, Laguna.

According to John Consulta’s “24 Oras” report on Thursday,  Bryan Ian Perez was shot in his head by the suspect.

The suspect, Police Corporal Kurt Ilagan, was arrested during the follow up operation conducted by the Cabuyao City police.

The police said the shooting incident occurred after the heated argument between the victim and the suspect in the comfort room of an establishment.

“Nang mag-CR daw siya sinundan daw siya nitong biktima. Ngayon pinagmumura raw siya kaya siguro kung makikita natin nagkaroon sila ng heated argument doon sa CR. Talagang fatal dahil lumapit yung ating suspect sa biktima talagang tinutukan niya ng baril ito,” said P/LTCOL. Don Salisi, chief of police of Cabuyao City Police Station.

(When he went to the CR then the victim allegedly followed him and cursed him. They had a heated argument there in the CR. It was really fatal because the suspect approached the victim then aimed the gun at him.)

Meanwhile, the victim’s relatives appealed for justice for the death of Perez.

“Sobrang sakit nung ginawa niya, dapat po talaga matanggal siya sa pagkapulis,” Lisa (real name witheld), victim’s live-in partner, said.

(It was very painful, he really should be dismissed as a police officer.)

“Hindi po namin kinukunsinti or tinotolerate kung ano man yung kamalian ng kapulisan natin. Yung kasong sinampa namin sa kanya ay kasong murder,” Salisi said.

(We do not tolerate or tolerate any wrongdoing by our police. The case we filed against him was a murder case.)
