The Department of Education Calabarzon has suspended classes in all grade levels in the region starting January 17 until January 29, 2022, amid the surge of COVID-19 cases.

Signed on Thursday, Regional Memorandum No. 32, s. 2022 suspends all other school activities, whether physical or virtual, involving school-based personnel, students, and parents.

“DepEd CALABARZON announces the suspension of classes in all grade levels on January 17 - 29, 2022,” the memorandum read.

DepEd Calabarzon said the midyear break on January 31 to February 5 will be maintained despite the suspensions of classes.

On Wednesday, DepEd urged regional and schools division offices to exercise discretion in suspending classes and other teaching-related activities this January amid the surge of COVID-19 cases.

The DepEd cited the alarming surge in COVID-19 cases and the well-being of teachers and students.

Meanwhile, DepEd said private schools, in consultation with parents’ associations, may also impose suspension of classes and K to 12 learning activities due to high COVID-19 risk. —Joviland Rita/KBK, GMA News
