At least P3.5M worth of alleged shabu confiscated in Cebu; suspect nabbed


Operatives of the Philippine National Police on Wednesday arrested a suspect in Talisay City, Cebu and confiscated over P3.5 million worth of alleged shabu, the PNP said on Saturday.

The anti-drug operation was conducted in Sitio Hawod, Barangay Bulacao on Wednesday evening by elements of the Talisay City Police Station, it added.

Arrested was suspect John Casper Puyat Macaalay, 21.

According to PNP chief Police General Dionardo Carlos, the suspect was allegedly caught in possession of more or less 525 grams of alleged shabu estimated to be worth P3,570,000. 

Also allegedly recovered were one unit of caliber .22 revolver and buy bust money.

The suspect and evidence were brought to the Talisay City Police Station Drug Enforcement Unit.

Authorities are preparing charges against the suspect for alleged violation of Section 5 in relation to Section 26(b) Section 15 of Article II of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, and violation of Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition and Penalties). —KG, GMA News
