Cops allegedly involved in businessman's disappearance
Some police officers at the Highway Patrol Group (HPG) in Laguna may be involved in the disappearance of a businessman, based on the initial investigation conducted by the Philippine National Police - Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG).
According to Emil Sumangil's "24 Oras" report, the PNP-CIDG armed with a search warrant conducted a raid in the impounding area of the PNP-HPG Laguna.
The PNP-CIDG said that based on initial investigation PNP-HPG personnel were allegedly involved in the case.
The victims, businessman Jamie Faramil Jr. and buy-and-sell agent Rodrigo Dueña II, went to Manila last December 26 for a business transaction. They went missing thereafter.
Dueña was found dead in Tayabas, Quezon last Dec. 30. Faramil, on the other hand, has been missing for a month.
"As of now sir, the evidence would lead to a fair conclusion that there are some uniformed personnel na may knowledge sa incident," said Police Lt. Col. Ariel Huesca, PNP-CIDG Quezon Provincial Officer, in an interview.
Huesca said that based on the initial investigation there are five uniformed personnel and two civilians involved in the incident.
It was found out that PNP-HPG personnel were allegedly involved after the victim's vehicle went missing and later recovered in Silang, Cavite last January 3.
GMA News tried to seek HPG Laguna police and Silang, Cavite police's comment on the incident but has yet to receive a reply.
Faramil went missing while Dueña's body was recovered in Quezon.
Faramil's mom, Myrna, appealed for help to find her missing son.
"Hirap na hirap na po kami. Inosente po ang anak ko. Please lang tulungan niyo po kami," Myrna said while weeping.
