BARMM ministers, deputies were asked to tender courtesy resignation for revamp —Ebrahim

Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) Chief Minister Ahod Ebrahim on Wednesday said he ordered ministers and deputy ministers to file courtesy resignations as the regional government will be revamped.

At the Laging Handa public briefing, Ebrahim said this is to ensure that the assessment on the ministries will be “very accurate.”

“Nag-issue kami ng (We issued a) memorandum na (that) all the ministers and deputy ministers will tender their resignation,” he said.

Ebrahim said he is eyeing for the BARMM to have effective government functions.

According to him, the courtesy resignations will give him a free hand in replacing underperforming ministers.

Ebrahim said he already accepted the courtesy resignation of two officials and reappointed five officials.

The rest are still under the process of assessment, he added.

Ebrahim refused to name the two officials whose resignations have been accepted, saying that he will disclose the information regarding the matter “in whole”.

The ratification of the Bangsamoro Organic Law in 2019 via a plebiscite paved the way for the creation of the BARMM and abolished the old Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM). —KG, GMA News
