Sara Duterte bids Davao City goodbye as she takes on 'bigger challenge'
Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio has formally bid farewell to her constituents in Davao City on Thursday as she said she took on a "bigger challenge" of running for the country's second-highest post in the 2022 May Elections.
According to Jonathan Andal's report over 24 Oras, the vice-presidential candidate bid goodbye to her fellow Dabawenos through a State of the City Address (SOCA) where she also looked back at her achievements as the city mayor in the past six years. The video was live-streamed on the local government's Facebook page.
"Today, allow me to formally and with a heavy heart say farewell. Let me say goodbye to all of you,” the local chief executive said in a mix of English and Cebuano. "I have been called to join the race for a bigger challenge."
Duterte-Caprio, chairman of the Lakas–Christian Muslim Democrats (CMD) is running alongside the so-called UniTeam with Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) standard-bearer former Senator Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. Both of them have kept great leads in the recent presidential and vice-presidential pre-election surveys.
On the same day, Marcos Jr. barnstormed Central Luzon where he vowed to lower electricity costs, empower the tourism and education sectors and continue the administration's Build, Build, Build program if elected.
He likewise received the endorsement of Bataan Governor Albert Garcia and Rep. Geraldine Roman.
"Ipagpapatuloy po natin yung sinimulan ni President Duterte na Build, Build, Build infrastructure program. Isasama natin dyan ang digital infrastructre at para sa ating internet na nakita naman natin na napakaimportante sa buhay natin ngayon, he said.
“We will continue President Duterte’s Build, Build, Build infrastructure program. We will include there the digital infrastructure for our internet seeing how important it is in our daily lives,” he said. —Sundy Mae Locus/NB, GMA News
