Dengue outbreak declared in Zamboanga City


A dengue outbreak was declared in Zamboanga City, according to a "24 Oras Weekend" report on Saturday.

The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council made the declaration after dengue cases reached 893, including 11 deaths, for the period January 1 to April 2. 

According to the city government, 85 dengue cases were recorded for morbidity week 13, up 963% from the same period in 2021, citing a report by City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit chief Dr. Ivy Iturralde.

The number of dengue cases has been increasing in recent weeks due to the frequent rains, the report said. —Richa Noriega/VBL, GMA News
