Oil tanker with 20,000 liters of gasoline hijacked in Sariaya, Quezon


A fuel tanker carrying 20,000 liters of gasoline products worth P1.5 million was hijacked in Sariaya, Quezon early morning of June 15, Super Radyo dzBB’s Luisito Santos reported.

Citing information from Quezon Provincial Police Office Director Police Colonel Joel Villanueva, the suspects were identified as Vincent Reyes and Philip Magtanggol. 

Authorities were able to arrest Reyes aided by his cellphone he left inside the truck. Magtanggol and two other unidentified suspects eluded arrest.

Villanueva said the oil tanker truck owned by 4M Transport and Sales Corporation was heading to Lucena City from Azora Depot in Barangay Castanas when the incident happened.

The suspects allegedly pointed a gun at the driver of the truck before tying and blindfolding him and leaving him at the side of the road.

When the truck sped away, the victim had the opportunity to seek assistance from the patrolling police.

The fuel tanker was recovered in Barangay Manggalang-Bantilan during a follow-up operation.—Mel Matthew Doctor/LDF, GMA News
