Cops nab 8 security guards for allegedly barging into, pointing a gun at Boracay hotel
Authorities arrested eight security guards for allegedly barging into a hotel in Boracay Island in Aklan and pointing a gun at several people, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said on Monday.
In a statement, PNP officer-in-charge Police Lieutenant General Vicente Danao Jr. identified the suspects as Conrad Ilagan, Jomar Solano, Roqui Tumbagahan, Gardie Maming, Carlos Ingo, Jomar Guevarra, Mel Jhon Fernandez, and Baldonero Torres.
Based on a police report, the suspects, dressed in civilian clothes, barged into the Cerca Hotel on Saturday. Guevarra then allegedly drew a short firearm from his sling bag and pointed the gun at the hotel staff.
This prompted the hotel employees to immediately flee the area and ask assistance from the Malay Municipal Police Station.
When they returned to the hotel a few minutes later, they saw Ingo changing into his security guard uniform.
Police arrived in the area and arrested the suspects. A 9mm pistol and a shotgun were seized.
“Those armed suspects posed a threat not only to the hotel staff, but also to the guests. We laud the quick action of our police personnel that prevented the situation from escalating and nobody was harmed,” Danao said.
Investigation is underway to determine the background and motive of the suspects. — DVM, GMA News
