Magnitude 5.1 quake jolts Itbayat, Batanes

A magnitude 5.1 earthquake shook Itbayat, Batanes on Tuesday night, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS).

The earthquake, which was tectonic in origin with a depth of 13 kilometers, occurred at 9:43 p.m. Its epicenter was traced to 190 kilometers northwest of Itbayat.

While no damage was expected from the quake, aftershocks were likely to occur, PHIVOLCS said. -- BAP, GMA News
