Floods hit parts of Maguindanao, Cotabato due to thunderstorms

Residents were affected by flooding in several areas in Maguindanao and Cotabato due to thunderstorms, according to the “24 Oras” report on Wednesday.

In Datu Montawal, Maguindanao province video footage showed how flash floods swept away a house due to heavy rains on Wednesday. Several roads were also flooded.

The nearby river overflowed due to heavy downpour and residents were immediately evacuated.

The local government said it has extended help to the affected residents.

Meanwhile, at least four families were rescued after being trapped in chest-deep floodwaters in Pikit, Cotabato.

The weather bureau, PAGASA, said heavy rains and thunderstorms caused floods in the said areas. -- Richa Noriega/BAP, GMA News
