Person of interest in death of 15-year-old girl in Bulacan identified —PNP

The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Wednesday said it has identified a person of interest in the death of 15-year-old Princess Marie Dumantay in Bulacan.

Interviewed on GMA News’ Unang Balita, PNP spokesperson Colonel Jean Fajardo said a complaint may be filed against the person on Wednesday once authorities accomplished all necessary documents.

“Meron na po tayong person of interest regarding po sa kaso na ito at inaasahan po natin na once makumpleto yung mga dokumento ay makakapagsampa na po tayo ng kaso ngayong araw,” she said.

(We already have a person of interest regarding this case and we are expecting that once the documents are completed, we may already file a complaint today.)

Fajardo said so far, the police are looking at only one person of interest based on the accounts of witnesses who last saw Dumantay on August 10.

According to Fajardo, the person of interest was a frequent companion of the victim when she went biking in the Quezon City area.

Fajardo said the police are also waiting for the findings of the medico legal officer who examined Dumantay’s body to determine if she was also sexually assaulted.

Dumantay was found dead on a grassy roadside in Bustos, Bulacan, on August 12. She had cigarette burns on her arms, bruises, and strangulation marks. —KBK, GMA News
