Flood forces evacuation of 110 families in Misamis Oriental

Flood spawned by heavy rains forced the evacuation of 110 families in Misamis Oriental province.

Citing a report from GMA Regional TV  One Mindanao, Unang Balita reported  Friday that over 100 families were evacuated when a creek in Initao town overflowed, and rampaging floodwater swamped houses along the banks.

Authorities said that 110 families from Barangays Poblacion and Gimampang were brought to evacuation centers.

Cebu floods

Due heavy rains, flooding were reported in some areas in Cebu province.

In Cebu City, a street near a rain-swollen creek, and houses along the banks were flooded, and several motorists were stranded, Unang Balita said, citing a report from GMA Regional TV Balitang Bisdak.

In Barangay Mabolo, some motorists needed to wade through flooded streets.

Also, waist-deep floodwater swamped a residential area in Mandaue City, Cebu, the report added.

Ilocos Sur flood

Also due to heavy rains from localized thunderstorms, flood hit a residential area in Vigan, Ilocos Sur, prompting the evacuation of 10 families living along a creek's banks, GMA Regional TV Balitang Amianan reported.

Earlier, state weather bureau PAGASA said that localized thunderstorms caused the heavy rains experienced in several parts of the country. —LBG, GMA News
