Municipal police chief, 1 other killed in Maguindanao ambush
Two policemen, including a municipal police official in Maguindanao, were killed in an ambush on Tuesday morning, a police spot report said.
Killed in the attack were Police Lieutenant Reynaldo Orcine Samson, chief of police of Ampatuan municipality, and Police Corporal Salipuden Talipasan Endab.
Both died "on the spot," the police report said.
Aside from the two fatalities, three other policemen were wounded in the attack perpetrated by a group led by one Guipar Abdulkarim and/or Bantukan Andog alias Cmdr Boy Jocket.
The police report said the victims were about to serve an arrest warrant against one Kamir Kambal alias Meds for robbery with violence when they were attacked by more or less 10 fully armed men in Barangay Kapinpilan.
A composite police team, including members of the elite Special Action Force, was deployed to conduct hot pursuit operations against the suspects, police said.
In a statement, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said it has intensified efforts in running after the suspects.
"The PNP is still doing follow-up operation regarding this unfortunate event," it said. —KBK, GMA News
