Inclement conditions cause flooding in Bataan areas

Severe rains brought by Typhoon Henry caused flooding in several areas in Mariveles, Bataan.

According to Ian Cruz’s “24 Oras Weekend” report on Saturday, residents were worried that flooding could worsen due to the heavy rains.

“Basta ganito lakas ng ulan talagang ganito eh bumabaha (With these heavy rains, it will flood here),” a resident said.

“Mahirap na mahirap po, itong kalagayan namin dito (Our situation here is very difficult),” another resident said.

Other locals said they would stay up all night in case the rising flood enters their homes.

“Hindi na ho kami matutulog babantayan namin kasi may mga bata dito at saka yung gamit namin tataas yan (We will not be able to sleep, we will watch the floods because there are children here and we might have to protect our belongings),” a resident said.

Areas including Balanga, Pilar, Orion, Limay, and Mariveles, Bataan experienced zero visibility due to heavy rains.

Meanwhile, the Bataan Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) was continously monitoring conditions in their areas amid the inclement weather.

Weather bureau PAGASA said Henry would continue moving northward, passing very close to or even making landfall over the Ryukyu archipelago's southern islands before exiting the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) late Saturday night. — DVM, GMA News
