Girl goes to school on unicycle to save money

For this 12-year-old girl, riding a unicycle is not just a display of skills but a necessity.

Grade 7 student Hannamichi found riding a unicycle a faster way than walking in getting to her school in Bocaue, Bulacan every morning and back home.

“Kailangan ko talangang magtipid kasi po kung mag-tricycle ako pauwi, wala po kaming makakain,” Hannamichi said in Jun Veneracion's report on "24 Oras."

The unicycle ride takes 30 to 45 minutes to reach her school.  Her father said he wanted to buy Hannamichi a bicycle, but which he could not afford with his salary as company driver.

Her father taught her how to balance on a unicycle.  But there are still times when she falls and gets injured.

A netizen captured Hannamichi on video while riding a unicycle and shared it on social media, which has since went viral, inspiring netizens to rise above the odds for their dreams.—Sherylin Untalan/LDF, GMA News
