Kennon Road in Baguio City temporarily closed to non-residents due to Karding –DPWH

As part of the precautions for the possible onslaught of Severe Tropical Storm Karding, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said that Kennon Road in Baguio City was temporarily closed to non-residents until further notice.

The DPWH-Cordillera Administrative Region said Kennon Road was closed except for residents starting Saturday to ensure public safety.

“All motorists (non-residents) are advised to pass thru Marcos Highway, Baguio-Bauang Road (Naguilian Road), or Asin-Nangalisan-San Pascual Road,” the department said in an advisory released on Friday.

Weather bureau PAGASA said Karding may make landfall on Sunday morning or afternoon over Aurora or Isabela.

PAGASA said Karding is expected to further intensify into a typhoon before landfall over Central or Northern Luzon, and will highly likely remain a typhoon while crossing the landmass.

The tropical storm is also influencing the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat), thus occasional rains may be experienced starting Saturday or Sunday over most of Southern Luzon and the Visayas, especially over their western sections. — DVM, GMA News
