Part of bridge in Bayambang, Pangasinan collapses


Part of the Carlos P. Romulo Bridge in Bayambang town in Pangasinan province collapsed on Thursday afternoon.

According to Mayor Niña Jose-Quiambao in a social media post, the bridge collapsed around 3:37 p.m. in Barangay Wawa.

At least two trucks were involved in the incident. Rescuers have already rushed the passengers to a hospital, the Jose-Quiambao added.

According to Glen Juego's report on Super Radyo dzBB, it is not clear yet if there are any fatalities. The Pangasinan Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) posted a photo of the incident.

The mayor said that they are currently coordinating with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), and advised motorists passing through Bayambang from Camiling, Tarlac to take alternate routes. — Mel Matthew Doctor/BM, GMA News
