San Pablo City in Laguna placed under state of calamity due to Paeng


The local government unit placed San Pablo City in Laguna under a state of calamity on Saturday due to the onslaught of Severe Tropical Storm Paeng (international name: Nalgae).

The Sangguniang Panglungsod passed a resolution on Saturday declaring a state of calamity in the city due to the damage caused by Paeng, the San Pablo City Information Office said.

According to the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CDRRMC), 33 barangays were affected by the severe tropical storm.

Some houses were totally or partially damaged, and crops were also reported damaged.

There were floods and landslides caused by strong winds and heavy rains, the CDRRMC added.

Laguna is under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 on Sunday morning, PAGASA said in its 5 a.m. bulletin.

Metro Manila, Cordillera Administrative Region, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Camarines Provinces, Western Visayas, and the rest of Cagayan Valley and Central Luzon may possibly have light to moderate with at times heavy rains on Sunday morning, the weather bureau added. —KG, GMA News
