Police seize over P250M worth of ‘shabu’ in Cavite

Authorities have seized P251.6 million worth of suspected “shabu” during an operation in Imus, Cavite over the weekend, Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Police General Rodolfo Azurin Jr. said Monday.

In a press conference, Azurin said two suspects identified as Datu Ali Sampulna and Almira Sampulna were arrested during the operation on Saturday.

The PNP said the suspects were caught in the act of selling a kilogram of shabu worth P6.8 million.

Also seized from the operation were 36 kilograms of suspected shabu worth over P244 million, according to the police.

“This laudable police operation manifests the keen resolve of the PNP to support the national anti-drug abuse campaign thru supply and reduction strategies of police operations,” he said.

During a forum organized by the Foreign Correspondents Association of the Philippines (FOCAP), Azurin said a total of P9.7 billion worth of illegal drugs have been confiscated since the start of the Marcos administration.

He said 46 drug suspects have been killed in the over 18,500 police operations and most of the fatalities were reported in Davao Region.

“More or less mga 46 'yung namatay at majority n'un ay sa Region 11 (More or less around 46 died and majority of those were in Region 11),” he said.

Around 22,000 arrests have been recorded so far, he added.—AOL, GMA Integrated News
