Comelec names 5 NCR malls for ‘register anywhere’ drive

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Monday named five malls in the National Capital Region who will be involved in its "register anywhere" drive from December 17, 2022 to January 25, 2023.

During the day's televised public briefing, Comelec spokesperson Atty. Rex Laudiangco identified the establishments as Mall of Asia, SM Fairview, SM South Mall, Robinsons Galleria, and Robinsons Place Manila.

“Nagkataon pong hindi kayo nakatira sa Metro Manila at gusto niyo pa rin bumoto doon sa munisipyo ninyo, halimbawa Tuguegarao o taga-Cavite, nagkatoon nandito kayo, puwede po kayo pumunta sa register anywhere booth,” Laudiangco said.

(If by chance you don’t live in Metro Manila and you want to vote at your municipality, for example Tuguegarao or Cavite, and you are here, you can go to the register anywhere booth.)

Laudiangco said the thumbprints and other biometrics will be taken at the booth and sent by Comelec to the municipality of the voter.

“Napakaganda po kasi nito para sa ating mga mag-aaral, nagta-trabaho sa Metro Manila, na walang pagkakataong umuwi sa kanilang mga probinsya,” he said.

(This is good for our students and for those working in Metro Manila, who doesn’t have a chance to go home to their provinces.)

“Pati na rin po ‘yung mga paalis na mga OFW, pati na rin po ‘yung mga seaman, ito po ay bukas ang pinto ng Comelec para po sila makapagrehistro,” he added.

(For departing OFWs and our seafarers, the doors of Comelec is open for them to be able to register.)

Meanwhile, Laudiangco said individuals who wish to reactivate their voter ID do not need to visit Comelec offices.

Laudiangco said the form can be downloaded at the Comelec website and sent to the Comelec election officer.

Concerns regarding the voter registration record may be sent to registrationstatus@comelec.gov.ph

“Meron po ‘yung email address, nandoon po 'yan sa website ng Comelec at ie-schedule po nila kayo ng video conferencing para makapagpanumpa po kayo online,” he said.

(The email address is at the website of Comelec and they will give you a schedule for a video conferencing so you can swear online.) —KBK, GMA Integrated News
